Having an Attitude of Gratitude

By. Meredith Biesinger

It’s hard to believe that it’s already November, isn’t it?

We’ve officially entered the holiday season, and the hustle and bustle of activities, events, and shopping are about to begin!

This time of year is overwhelming for just about everybody, including teachers. We’re trying to teach curriculum and keep students on track while everybody (including us) is looking forward to holiday breaks and the season’s festivities.

November is a month where we often express more gratitude than usual for what we are thankful for. Of course, there are many things I am grateful for…my family, friends, home, students, and employment, to name a few. I am also thankful for anything that makes my life SIMPLE.

Simplicity is beautiful, and I appreciate the little things that allow me to enjoy the bigger things in life.

Online shopping has added simplicity, and much appreciated convenience to my life! It’s an expensive time of the year, so I’m always grateful to find a great deal on popular gift ideas such as clothingfood itemselectronicstoys, and gift cards

I am also grateful for tools that make gift-giving more manageable, such as Canvas Pop. Printing off a family portrait or pet portrait on a nice canvas frame is a thoughtful gift and keepsake, and it takes little time to do!

November is also a great time to begin a gratitude journal for yourself and your students! Each day, write down one thing that you are grateful for. This is an excellent way to promote positive mental health and a simple way to incorporate daily writing exercises.

There is always, always, always, something to be grateful for. With Thanksgiving upon us, I am thankful for resources that allow me the time and ability to focus on the things that matter most to me.
