I am writing this during Labor Day weekend from the mountains of Maine. The view from my rental is stunning, the hiking has been serene, and golf… well there have been better rounds. But the overall experience is what counts and that grade is a solid A.
For some educators this is the first long weekend of the school year. For others it represents the unofficial end of summer and transition to the start of the school year. Regardless of where you are in this timeline it is important to have time for yourself and one way to do that is to plan for your next vacation.
Doing this effectively means thinking months and seasons ahead. For example, last week I reserved a beach rental for summer 2022. And having that done already is both a relief and celebration. Thankfully, Educators Marketplace has multiple options for you to browse and act on for long weekends, holidays, and next summer.
Planning vacations and your vacation time ultimately makes you a better educator. Sharing your experiences with students helps build relationships and inspire students to try something new. Moreover, you get a chance to relax, rejuvenate, and be energized for your students. So, take some now to plan for your future self!
