Many readers of this blog will be familiar with the famous line from Game of Thrones¸ ”Winter is coming.” Even more readers will recognize that with the change of seasons, winter break is coming! School calendars situates the winter break either at or near to the mid-way point of the calendar. If you have your plans complete, congratulations. Combining my experience as a teacher with anecdotal plans I have heard from colleagues and on social media, I have created five “umbrella categories” (see bullets below) which identify how educators spend their vacation.
